Recipe Yield: 8 servings

INGREDIENTS

For the Danish:
2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
1/8 tsp salt
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp water (adjust as needed)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, egg yolk, and salt until smooth and creamy.

3. Assemble the Danish: Roll out one can of crescent roll dough on the baking sheet, pressing the seams together to form a solid rectangle. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.

4. Top & Seal: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and carefully place it over the filling. Lightly press the edges to seal and gently tuck in the sides to prevent leaks.

5. Brush & Bake: Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 22-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.

6. Make the Glaze: While the Danish bakes, whisk together powdered sugar, water, and vanilla extract until smooth. If the glaze is too thin, add a little more powdered sugar until it reaches the perfect drizzling consistency.

7. Cool & Drizzle: Let the Danish cool for 10 minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top. Slice into squares or strips, and enjoy!

HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE

  • Use Cold Crescent Dough: It’s much easier to work with when chilled, making sealing and shaping effortless.
  • Seal the Edges Well: Prevent the filling from leaking by gently pinching and tucking the edges.
  • Customize It: Add a thin layer of fruit jam before the cream cheese for extra flavor!
