Snickerdoodle Cookies

Snickerdoodle Cookies: A Sweet Treat for Every Occasion

When it comes to classic cookie recipes, snickerdoodle cookies hold a special place in many hearts—and for good reason. These delightful treats combine a soft, chewy texture with the warm spice of cinnamon, making them a go-to favorite for any season. Whether you’re preparing a festive dessert platter, hosting a casual get-together, or simply indulging in a quiet moment with a cup of coffee, snickerdoodles are always a perfect choice.

What sets snickerdoodle cookies apart from other cookies is their signature coating of cinnamon and sugar. This simple yet irresistible combination creates a slightly crispy exterior while keeping the inside deliciously soft. Furthermore, the inclusion of cream of tartar gives these cookies their distinct tangy flavor and chewy texture. While traditional recipes are cherished, there’s always room for creative variations, such as adding a pinch of nutmeg or even a drizzle of icing.

Moreover, snickerdoodle cookies are easy to make, even for beginners. With a few pantry staples and a little patience, you can whip up a batch that rivals any bakery creation. Although they’re often associated with the holidays, their comforting flavor makes them a year-round delight. Not to mention, their timeless appeal means they’re always a hit with kids and adults alike.

As you follow this recipe, you’ll notice that the process is straightforward, from creaming the butter and sugar to rolling the dough in the signature coating. Plus, these cookies bake quickly, which means you’ll have a tray of warm, fragrant snickerdoodles in no time.

In the end, these cookies are more than just a treat—they’re a tradition worth sharing. So, whether you’re baking for loved ones or treating yourself, snickerdoodle cookies are sure to bring a smile to your face.

Snickerdoodle Cookies – soft, buttery cookies with a signature cinnamon-sugar coating, perfect for any occasion.

INGREDIENTS
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 tsp ground cinnamon (for dough)
3 tbsp granulated sugar (for coating)
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F, ensuring even baking later. While the oven heats, cream together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract so the flavors combine evenly.
2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix, as this ensures the cookies remain tender.
3. Create the cinnamon-sugar coating: In a small bowl, mix together the 3 tbsp of granulated sugar and the ground cinnamon. Roll the dough into 1 ½-inch balls and then roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, coating them fully.
4. Bake the cookies: Place the coated dough balls on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow room for spreading. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set and slightly golden, but the centers remain soft.
5. Cool and serve: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy these classic snickerdoodles with a cozy cup of coffee or milk.
