What makes this recipe even better? It’s totally customizable! Want more heat? Add an extra jalapeño. Love tropical flavors? Toss in diced mango. However you make it, this Easy Shrimp Ceviche is guaranteed to be a hit. So, grab your tortilla chips and let’s dig in!

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

1 lb cooked shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4 limes)
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 1 large lemon)
1/4 cup fresh orange juice (about 1/2 an orange)
1/2 red onion, finely diced
1 small jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
3/4 cup cherry tomatoes, diced
3/4 cup cucumber, peeled and diced
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 avocado, diced
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp honey or agave (optional)
Tortilla chips or tostadas, for serving

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prep the shrimp: Chop the cooked shrimp into bite-sized pieces and place them in a glass or non-reactive bowl.

2. Marinate in citrus: Pour the lime, lemon, and orange juice over the shrimp. Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

3. Add the veggies: Mix in the red onion, jalapeño, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and cilantro. Stir well to combine.

4. Season and finish: Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and honey (if using). Mix gently to blend flavors.

5. Add avocado and serve: Just before serving, carefully fold in the diced avocado. Serve chilled with tortilla chips or on tostadas. Enjoy immediately!

Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Perfect citrus balance – A mix of lime, lemon, and orange juice gives the ceviche a zesty yet smooth flavor without overpowering acidity.
  • Enhance texture – Adding olive oil gives the shrimp a velvety finish, while honey subtly balances the acidity for a smoother taste.
  • Customize your flavors – Love heat? Use serrano peppers! Want extra crunch? Add diced bell peppers. Craving sweetness? Try mango or pineapple!
