Recipe Yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

1 large loaf French bread (12 inches)
1 1/4 cup pizza sauce
2 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
half cup pepperoni slices (or preferred toppings)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
Fresh basil (for garnish)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven: Set to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prep the bread: Slice French bread in half lengthwise, then cut each half into two pieces, making 4 portions. (For larger slices, keep as two halves instead and remove some of the inside bread slightly to allow more cheese and toppings.) Place on the baking sheet, cut side up.

3. Crisp the crust: Brush each piece lightly with olive oil, then sprinkle with garlic powder, oregano, and salt for flavor. Toast in the oven for 5 minutes—this keeps the bread from getting soggy.

4. Sauce it up: Spread pizza sauce evenly over each toasted bread slice.

5. Cheese & toppings:

  • Sprinkle half the mozzarella over the sauce.
  • Add pepperoni and any other toppings.
  • Top with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan for that gooey, melty finish.

6. Bake to perfection: Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
