3-Ingredient Berry Chia Jam – a vibrant homemade spread served with berries, toast, and chia seeds.

3-Ingredient Berry Chia Jam is the healthy, no-fuss jam you’ve been waiting for—bursting with berry flavor and requiring zero fancy equipment. All you need are fresh or frozen berries, a spoonful of honey, and chia seeds to create this naturally thick, fruity spread in under 15 minutes. It’s wholesome, quick, and perfect for toast, oatmeal, yogurt bowls, and more.

Unlike store-bought jams loaded with sugar and preservatives, this jam is sweetened to taste and gets its jelly-like texture from the magical powers of chia seeds. It’s a total game-changer if you’re into clean eating or just want an easy pantry-friendly recipe.

Fun fact: Chia seeds were once valued by Aztec warriors for their energy-boosting properties! Today, we love them for their fiber, protein, and ability to turn berries into spreadable magic. Whether you’re meal prepping or making breakfast more exciting, this jam belongs in your fridge.

Recipe Yield: About 1 cup

INGREDIENTS

2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
2 tbsp chia seeds
1–2 tbsp honey (to taste)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cook the berries:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the berries. Stir occasionally and cook for 7–10 minutes, until the fruit begins to break down and become juicy. If using frozen berries, cook slightly longer until fully thawed and soft.

2. Mash and sweeten:
Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the berries to your desired consistency. Stir in the honey while the mixture is still warm. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.

3. Stir in chia seeds:
Remove from heat and stir in the chia seeds. Let the jam sit for 5–10 minutes to thicken naturally. The chia seeds will absorb the liquid and create a jelly-like texture.

4. Cool and store:
Transfer the jam to a jar or airtight container and let cool completely. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Use Ripe or Frozen Berries: Fresh ripe berries yield the best flavor, but frozen berries work beautifully too and add convenience year-round.
  • Adjust Sweetness Naturally: Depending on the tartness of your berries, add more or less honey to suit your taste—start small, then taste and adjust.
  • Chill for Perfect Texture: The jam thickens as it cools. If it seems too thin at first, just give it more time in the fridge before judging consistency.
