Warm Herb-Roasted Prosciutto Mozzarella Bites fresh from the oven, simple and elegant.

Herb-Roasted Prosciutto Mozzarella Bites are the kind of appetizer that feels elegant, yet secretly effortless. Each bite combines creamy mozzarella with savory prosciutto, then finishes with olive oil, herbs, and gentle oven heat. As a result, the cheese turns irresistibly soft while the prosciutto lightly crisps, creating the perfect balance of texture and flavor.

Because this recipe uses simple, high-quality ingredients, every element shines. Meanwhile, the herbs and olive oil add warmth without overpowering the cheese. Not only are these bites quick to prepare, but they’re also ideal for entertaining, last-minute guests, or cozy nights in.

Interestingly, prosciutto has been crafted in Italy for over 2,000 years. Traditionally, it was prized for both preservation and flavor. Today, it remains a symbol of rustic Italian cooking, especially when paired with fresh cheese.

Whether served as a holiday appetizer or an everyday snack, these mozzarella bites feel timeless, comforting, and just a little indulgent.

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini)
8 thin slices prosciutto
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat and prepare:
First, preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Then, lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

2. Wrap the mozzarella:
Next, cut each slice of prosciutto in half lengthwise. After that, wrap one piece tightly around each mozzarella ball and place seam-side down.

3. Season and drizzle:
Meanwhile, arrange the wrapped mozzarella evenly in the dish. Drizzle olive oil over the top, then sprinkle Italian seasoning, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.

4. Roast gently:
Now, bake uncovered for 10–12 minutes, until the prosciutto is lightly crisped and the mozzarella is soft but still holding shape.

5. Finish and serve:
Finally, remove from oven and garnish with fresh basil. Serve immediately while warm and melty.

Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Use high-quality mozzarella: Fresh mozzarella with good moisture ensures a creamy interior while roasting evenly, resulting in better texture and flavor.
  • Avoid overbaking: Although longer baking may seem tempting, stopping early keeps the cheese intact instead of fully melting out.
  • Let flavors rest briefly: Allowing the bites to sit for 2 minutes after baking helps the oil, herbs, and prosciutto fully absorb into the mozzarella.
