Doughnuts have been a favorite for centuries, but did you know that early versions were just fried dough balls without a hole? It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that the classic ring shape became popular in the U.S., thanks to sailors looking for a way to cook their dough evenly. Fast forward to today, and you don’t even need a fryer—just three ingredients and a little baking magic!

With a whisk, a bowl, and a doughnut pan, you’re just steps away from a warm, chocolatey treat. So why wait? Mix, bake, and enjoy—because homemade doughnuts should always be this easy!

Recipe Yield: 6 doughnuts

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)
2 large eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour

Optional Toppings:
Powdered sugar, drizzle with melted chocolate, or Nutella glaze

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 6-cavity doughnut pan to prevent sticking.

2. Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the Nutella and eggs until smooth. Gradually fold in the flour and mix until just combined—don’t overmix, or the doughnuts may turn dense.

3. Fill & Bake: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

4. Cool & Serve: Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with melted chocolate, or add a Nutella glaze for extra indulgence!

HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE

  • Balance the Texture
Using 3/4 cup of flour creates the ideal balance—enough to hold the doughnuts’ shape while keeping them soft, moist, and tender. Too little flour may make them too delicate, while too much can make them dense.
  • Don’t Overmix!
To keep the texture light and fluffy, mix just until the flour disappears. Overmixing can make the doughnuts tough.
  • Customize the Toppings
Try dipping the tops in warm Nutella, sprinkling crushed hazelnuts, or drizzling melted chocolate for extra decadence!
