Air Fryer Golden Wontons are everything you want in a quick appetizer: crispy, savory, and irresistibly snackable. First of all, these homemade wontons cook beautifully in the air fryer, which means you get a golden, crunchy exterior without deep frying. As a result, they are lighter, faster, and incredibly easy to prepare on busy evenings.

Meanwhile, the flavorful filling brings everything together. A simple mixture of seasoned ground pork, garlic, ginger, and green onion creates a delicious bite packed with umami flavor. Then, once wrapped in delicate wonton wrappers, the air fryer transforms them into perfectly crisp little pockets.

Interestingly, wontons date back centuries in Chinese cuisine, traditionally served in soups or fried as street food snacks. Today, however, they are loved worldwide for their versatility and comfort-food appeal.

Therefore, whether you serve them as a party appetizer, game-day snack, or quick dinner side, these Air Fryer Golden Wontons are guaranteed to disappear quickly. Pair them with soy sauce, chili crisp, or sweet chili sauce for the ultimate dipping experience.

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

24 wonton wrappers
10 oz ground pork
1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil spray
3 tbsp water (divided: 1 tbsp for filling, 2 tbsp for sealing wrappers)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the filling:
In a medium bowl combine ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, black pepper, and 1 tbsp water. Mix until smooth and slightly sticky.

2. Fill the wontons:
Place one wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 tsp filling to the center. Lightly brush edges with water, press out any air, then fold into a triangle and seal tightly.

3. Shape the wontons:
Keep as triangles for a clean, crisp shape, or gently press edges again to ensure they are fully sealed before cooking.

4. Preheat the air fryer:
Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with oil.

5. Arrange the wontons:
Place wontons in a single layer. Lightly spray or brush both sides with oil for even crisping.

6. Air fry until crispy:
Cook for 7–9 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crisp. The filling should reach 165°F (74°C).

7. Serve and enjoy:
Let cool slightly, then serve warm with soy sauce, chili oil, or sweet chili sauce.

Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Seal Wontons Properly: First, always brush the edges of the wrapper with water. This helps the wontons seal tightly and prevents them from opening while cooking.
  • Do Not Overfill: Although it may be tempting to add more filling, using about one teaspoon ensures the wrappers seal well and cook evenly in the air fryer.
  • Air Fry in Batches: For the best crisp texture, cook wontons in a single layer. Overcrowding traps steam and prevents that golden crunch everyone loves.
