Air Fryer Garlic Butter Lobster Tails make an impressive dinner feel wonderfully simple. The lobster cooks in minutes, staying tender beneath a rich layer of garlic, lemon, and smoked paprika. Meanwhile, the shells turn beautifully bright, giving the finished plate an elegant look without extra fuss.

This recipe is perfect for date night, holidays, or any evening that deserves something a little special. The prep is quick, and the air fryer handles the cooking with very little attention. A final spoonful of warm lemon garlic butter adds richness, while fresh parsley keeps every bite bright.

Because lobster cooks quickly, the best approach is to start checking early. Once the meat is pearly, opaque, and just cooked through, serve it right away. Add lemon wedges and a little bread for catching every last drop of garlic butter.

Recipe Yield: 2 servings

INGREDIENTS

2 lobster tails (5–6 oz each), thawed if frozen
3 tbsp unsalted butter
2 small garlic cloves, finely minced
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp finely grated lemon zest
¼ tsp smoked paprika
¼ tsp sea salt
⅛ tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Lemon wedges, for serving

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare lobster tails:
Using kitchen shears, cut through the top shell lengthwise, stopping just before the tail fan. Gently loosen the meat from the shell, leaving it attached at the base. Lift the meat over the shell, then pat it dry.

2. Make garlic butter:
Combine the butter and garlic in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second intervals until melted. Then, stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

3. Brush lobster tails:
Divide the garlic butter evenly between two clean bowls. Brush the lobster generously with sauce from one bowl. Reserve the second bowl for serving, and discard any sauce remaining in the brushing bowl.

4. Air fry lobster tails:
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange the lobster tails shell-side down without overlapping. Air fry for 5–7 minutes, checking after 5 minutes. Continue in 1-minute increments until the meat is pearly and opaque and reaches 145°F (63°C).

5. Garnish and serve:
Transfer the lobster tails to a serving plate. Spoon the reserved garlic butter over the meat, sprinkle with parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe

  • Thaw and dry the lobster well: Fully thaw frozen lobster tails in the refrigerator before cooking. Then, pat the meat dry so the garlic butter stays rich instead of becoming watery.
  • Start checking early: Air fryers and lobster-tail thicknesses vary. Check at 5 minutes, then continue in 1-minute increments. Insert the thermometer into the thickest center without touching the shell.
  • Keep the finishing butter separate: Divide the sauce before brushing the raw lobster. Keep the clean portion warm, then spoon it over the cooked tails just before serving.
