4-Ingredient Lemon Frozen Yogurt is bright, creamy, and full of fresh citrus flavor. It has the tang of classic frozen yogurt, yet the texture is rich enough to feel like a special dessert. Whole-milk Greek yogurt creates the base, while sweetened condensed milk adds sweetness and helps it freeze smoothly. Fresh lemon zest and juice keep every scoop lively instead of overly sweet.

The secret is softly whipped cream. It adds just enough air and richness for a lighter, creamier finish without hiding the yogurt’s refreshing tang. Better still, there is no ice cream maker and no repeated stirring. Simply mix, fold, freeze, and let the freezer handle the rest.

Serve it in chilled bowls, crisp cones, or alongside fresh berries. After freezing overnight, a few minutes on the counter brings it back to a beautifully scoopable texture.

Recipe Yield: 8 servings

INGREDIENTS

24 oz plain whole-milk Greek yogurt, cold (about 3 cups)
1 (14-oz) can sweetened condensed milk, cold
1 cup heavy cream, cold
2 large lemons (1 tbsp finely grated zest and 1/4 cup fresh juice)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Make the lemon base:
In a large bowl, whisk the Greek yogurt, condensed milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice until completely smooth.

2. Whip the cream:
In a chilled medium bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. The cream should hold its shape while remaining smooth.

3. Fold the mixture:
Whisk one-third of the whipped cream into the yogurt base to lighten it. Then, gently fold in the remaining cream until no white streaks remain.

4. Freeze the yogurt:
Spread the mixture into a 9×5-inch metal loaf pan or shallow 2-qt freezer-safe container. Press parchment directly against the surface, cover tightly, and freeze for 6 to 8 hours.

5. Soften and serve:
Let the frozen yogurt stand at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before scooping. If frozen overnight, allow up to 20 minutes.

HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt: Choose plain Greek yogurt with about 5% milk fat. Reduced-fat yogurt contains more water and can create a firmer, icier texture.
  • Stop at soft peaks: Overwhipped cream can make the frozen yogurt feel grainy or crumbly. Stop when the lifted beaters leave softly curved peaks.
  • Measure the lemon juice: Lemon sizes vary, so measure exactly 1/4 cup. Extra juice may make the mixture more tart and harder once frozen.
  • Choose a shallow container: A metal loaf pan helps the mixture freeze more quickly and evenly. Pressing parchment against the surface also limits ice crystals.
