Cranberry Brie Puff Pastry Twists are the kind of appetizer that feels effortlessly elegant while remaining wonderfully simple to make. First of all, the flaky puff pastry bakes up golden and crisp, while the creamy brie melts into rich, buttery layers. Meanwhile, the cranberry filling adds a bright, tangy contrast that balances every bite. As a result, these twists feel indulgent without being heavy, which makes them perfect for entertaining.

Historically, pairing fruit preserves with soft cheeses has long been a European tradition, especially during festive gatherings. Over time, puff pastry became the modern shortcut, transforming classic flavors into crowd-pleasing bites. Therefore, this recipe brings together tradition and convenience in the best possible way.

Whether you’re hosting a holiday party, planning a wine night, or simply craving a cozy baked snack, these twists deliver. Even better, they come together quickly, yet look bakery-level impressive every single time.

Recipe Yield: 10–12 twists

INGREDIENTS

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz brie cheese, rind removed, sliced thin
⅓ cup cranberry sauce (whole berry or jellied)
1 Tbsp honey
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
¼ tsp flaky sea salt
1 Tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare the pastry:
First, preheat oven to 400°F (205°C). Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and gently roll to smooth seams.

2. Add the fillings:
Meanwhile, spread cranberry sauce evenly over one half of the puff pastry. Then, arrange brie slices evenly over the other half. After that, drizzle lightly with honey and sprinkle with rosemary if using.

3. Fold and cut:
Next, carefully fold the cranberry-covered half of the pastry over the brie side, pressing gently to seal. Then, cut into 1-inch strips.

4. Twist and arrange:
Afterward, twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet, spacing slightly apart.

5. Brush and bake:
Finally, whisk egg with water and brush over twists. Sprinkle lightly with flaky salt. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and deeply golden. Cool slightly before serving.

HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE

  • Use very cold pastry: Cold puff pastry creates the flakiest layers, so work quickly and chill briefly if it softens.
  • Balance the filling: Don’t overfill, because too much brie or cranberry can leak and prevent clean twists.
  • Finish with texture: A light sprinkle of flaky salt or fresh herbs right after baking enhances flavor and presentation.
