Blueberry Soft Serve is a bright, velvety frozen dessert made for anyone craving homemade ice cream without an ice cream machine. Frozen blueberries bring bold berry flavor and a naturally beautiful color, while Greek yogurt and cream cheese create a rich, gently tangy base. Sweetened condensed milk keeps every spoonful smooth and soft, and blueberry preserves deepen the fruit flavor without overwhelming it.
The entire recipe comes together in a food processor in minutes. Serve it immediately for a relaxed, spoonable finish, or chill it briefly before piping those tall soft-serve swirls. A touch of lemon keeps the blueberries lively, while vanilla rounds everything out. It feels polished enough for company, yet it is simple enough to make whenever the freezer is stocked with blueberries. Cold serving bowls help maintain that dreamy consistency, although patience is only required for a few minutes.

Recipe Yield: 4 servings
INGREDIENTS
4 cups frozen blueberries, kept frozen
1 cup full-fat plain Greek yogurt, very cold
4 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened just enough to blend but still cool
1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
3 tbsp blueberry preserves, divided
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp kosher salt
1 tbsp whole milk, only if needed
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Blend the creamy base:
Add Greek yogurt, cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, 2 tbsp blueberry preserves, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt to a food processor. Process for 30–45 seconds, scraping the bowl once, until completely smooth.
2. Add the blueberries:
Add frozen blueberries in two batches, pulsing several times after each addition. Then process for 3–5 minutes until thick and creamy, stopping every 30–45 seconds to scrape the bowl.
3. Adjust if needed:
If the blades still cannot move after scraping, add milk 1 tsp at a time, using no more than 1 tbsp. Continue processing until the mixture is smooth and holds soft peaks.
4. Finish and serve:
Spoon the soft serve into chilled bowls and swirl the remaining 1 tbsp blueberry preserves over the top. For defined piped swirls, transfer the mixture to a shallow container and freeze for 10–15 minutes before piping through a large star tip.
HELPFUL TIPS TO PERFECT THIS RECIPE
- Keep everything cold: Use blueberries directly from the freezer and very cold Greek yogurt. The cream cheese should be softened only enough to blend smoothly.
- Use the right processor size: A 7-cup or larger food processor gives the blueberries enough room to circulate and blend evenly.
- Let the processor do the work: Scrape the bowl several times before adding milk. Most food processors can create smooth Blueberry Soft Serve without extra liquid.
- Watch the final consistency: Stop processing once the mixture becomes creamy and holds soft peaks. Excess blending creates heat and can make it softer.
- Serve it freshly made: Leftovers will freeze firm. Let them stand for 15–20 minutes before scooping, or briefly reprocess them to restore the soft consistency.
