Cajun Butter Meatballs turn a simple blend of ground beef and pork into something worth looking forward to. A milk-soaked panko mixture keeps every meatball tender, while Parmesan, grated onion, garlic, and Cajun seasoning build savory flavor all the way through.
Once baked, the meatballs are tossed in a glossy garlic butter sauce with tomato paste, Worcestershire, Dijon, and just enough honey to round out the spice. Fresh lemon and parsley finish the skillet, so the sauce tastes rich without feeling heavy.
Serve these Cajun meatballs over creamy mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles for an easy weeknight dinner. They also work beautifully as a warm party appetizer. Either way, keep something nearby for the extra sauce—leaving it behind would be the only real mistake.

Recipe Yield: 6 servings
INGREDIENTS
Cajun meatballs:
1 lb ground beef, preferably 85% lean
½ lb ground pork
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
¼ cup whole milk
1 large egg
⅓ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
¼ cup finely grated yellow onion
2 tbsp finely sliced green onions
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp salt-free Cajun seasoning
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp black pepper
Cajun butter sauce:
¾ cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp unsalted butter
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp honey
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp salt-free Cajun seasoning
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tbsp cold water
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the oven:
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Soak the breadcrumbs:
Combine the panko and milk in a large bowl. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes.
3. Mix the meatballs:
Add the beef, pork, egg, Parmesan, yellow onion, green onions, garlic, Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
4. Shape the meatballs:
Portion the mixture into 24 meatballs, about 1½ inches each. Roll them lightly without compacting the meat, then arrange them 1 inch apart on the baking sheet.
5. Bake until browned:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until lightly browned and the centers reach 160°F.
6. Start the sauce:
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
7. Simmer the sauce:
Whisk in the chicken broth, Worcestershire, honey, Dijon, and Cajun seasoning. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–4 minutes.
8. Thicken the glaze:
Stir the cornstarch and cold water together until smooth. Whisk it into the sauce and simmer for 1–2 minutes, until glossy and lightly thickened.
9. Coat the meatballs:
Add the baked meatballs and reduce the heat to low. Gently toss for 1–2 minutes, then remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice and parsley.
Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe
- Keep the grated onion juices. Grate the onion directly over the mixing bowl. Its moisture helps keep the Cajun meatballs tender and evenly flavored.
- Check your Cajun seasoning. This recipe is balanced for a salt-free blend. When using a seasoning that contains salt, reduce the added kosher salt to ½ tsp.
- Test the seasoning when needed. Cook a teaspoon-sized portion of the meat mixture in a small skillet before shaping the meatballs. Then, adjust the seasoning without guessing.
- Broil only when necessary. If the meatballs look pale after baking, broil them for about 1 minute before adding them to the sauce. Watch closely so they remain juicy.
- Reheat with a splash of broth. Refrigerate leftovers with the sauce for up to 3 days. Warm them gently over low heat with a little chicken broth to loosen the glaze.
