4-Ingredient Pumpkin Brownies turn a remarkably short ingredient list into rich chocolate squares with soft, fudgy centers. Pumpkin puree keeps every bite moist, while creamy almond butter adds body and richness without flour or oil. Meanwhile, melted semisweet chocolate creates the brownie base and provides just the right amount of sweetness. A handful of chocolate chips inside and on top leaves pockets of melted chocolate throughout.
Everything comes together in one bowl, so preparation and cleanup stay wonderfully simple. These brownies become especially delicious after cooling completely, when the center settles into a dense, sliceable consistency. Enjoy them at room temperature, or warm one briefly for an extra-gooey chocolate bite. Although pumpkin makes them perfect for fall, their deep chocolate flavor works beautifully throughout the year. Four ingredients, one pan, and plenty of chocolate—that sounds like a very good baking day.

Recipe Yield: 9 brownies
INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup pumpkin puree, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup creamy salted almond butter, well stirred and room temperature
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (about 9 oz), divided
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the pan:
Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a light-colored metal 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides.
2. Melt the chocolate:
Combine 1 cup chocolate chips and the almond butter in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring well between each, until nearly smooth. Stir until fully melted, then cool for 5 minutes.
3. Finish the batter:
Gradually whisk in the pumpkin puree in three additions, mixing until smooth after each. Then, whisk in the eggs one at a time just until combined. Fold in 1/4 cup chocolate chips.
4. Bake the brownies:
Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Scatter the remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips over the top. Bake for 30–34 minutes, until the edges are set, the center no longer appears wet, and the center reaches at least 160°F. A toothpick inserted away from a chocolate chip should hold thick, moist crumbs without raw batter.
5. Cool and slice:
Cool completely in the pan for at least 2 hours. Then, lift out using the parchment paper and cut into 9 squares.
Helpful Tips to Perfect This Recipe
- Use room-temperature ingredients: Cold pumpkin or eggs can cause the melted chocolate to stiffen suddenly. Bringing them to room temperature creates a smoother, more even batter.
- Choose pure pumpkin puree: Pumpkin pie filling contains added sugar and spices that would change both the sweetness and consistency of these brownies.
- Avoid overbaking: The center should look set but remain slightly soft when the brownies leave the oven. They continue firming as they cool.
- Allow the full cooling time: Flourless pumpkin brownies need time to settle into their fudgy consistency. For exceptionally neat slices, chill them for 20–30 minutes after cooling.
- Store them chilled: Refrigerate leftover brownies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Let them sit briefly at room temperature before serving for the softest bite.
